The BPU Supplier Diversity Development Council (SDDC) was chartered in 1997 to serve in an advisory capacity to the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (BPU) and BPU-regulated companies as they relate to supplier diversity. The industries represented include telecommunications, electric, gas, water, and cable.

The Supplier Diversity Development Council (SDDC) is dedicated to forging effective working relationships between minority and woman-owned businesses (M/WBEs) and New Jersey public utilities and the Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) on matters relating to methods of reporting, measuring, and assessing the development of these relationships.

The SDDC serves as a resource to identify "best practices" and to promote related support activities and the seminars for both companies and M/WBEs. In order to enhance the advancement of mutual goals, the SDDC promotes the adoption of "best practices" and processes that provide equal access for M/WBEs to companies.

The SDDC's commitment to its mission will enhance supplier diversity among New Jersey companies, resulting in the development of a strong economy and a productive environment for the growth of business throughout the state.

"I am proud to be part of the SDDC's efforts to promote diverse suppliers in the utility sector. The SDDC, in advising the Board of Public Utilities and setting forth best practices, provides equal access for minority and woman-owned businesses (M/WBEs) in the utility industry and furthers the growth of M/WBEs in New Jersey's economy."
- Jeannie Fox, President of the NJ Board of Public Utilities
